Tidy Cords

I have a drawer in my desk that is only used for electronic cords. It's a mess. Cords are everywhere. They are tangled, folded, and laced together. I don't even open it because it's so hard to find anything. Well, the Recoil Winder would help anyone with a bunch of messy gadget cords.

The Recoil Winder automatically winds cables inside a colorful case. You just fold the cord in half and hook it into the device. It quickly winds the cord and makes life a whole lot easier. The Recoil Winder comes in three sizes and can handle cords up to 60 inches long.

Touchy Touchy

There are touch iPods, touch phones, touch screens, so why aren't there touch keyboards? There are. Well, there will be. Currently keyboards are being created that you can just touch to work.

Have a great weekend.

Wet Bottoms

It rained the day before. Not just rained, but rained so hard that you could hear the water come down and hit the ground. Each drop made a sound. You wake up ready to go for a quick run in the park. After making it to the park, you meet someone you know. You start talking to them, and after a while you two decide to sit down. Your friend sits down on the bench near you, and quickly jumps back up. Water now soaks her pants from the puddle she sat in.

Has this ever happened to you? Maybe you weren't the friend but the one getting the wet pants? Well, I have a gadget for you. The Rolling Bench is a new creation that everyone can find a little enjoyment from. I mean come on, no more wet butts, that's great. The bench has a handle on the side, and after a rainy day or spilled drink, you can simply turn the handle. The bench will roll and the wet side of the bench will go underneath and you will be rewarded with a dry place to park your bottom.

Just remember to not sit on it while turning the handle. That probably won't help, or your bottom might end up on the ground.

Have you ever sat in a puddle before?

Easy Lock

The power at my house goes out all the time. Mostly because people don't know how to drive. There is a very poorly planned intersection right outside my neighborhood, and people don't seem to understand the signs that say DO NOT TURN ON RED in big letters, or the fact that lanes with yellow lines going across are not their own personal turning lanes. If you can see where I'm going with this, people get in accidents a lot. Usually, while they are in the process of crashing they seem to think, hey there's a lovely pole over their with wires attached to it, let me crash into that. So, then my neighborhood loses power, and no body is happy.

Anyway, what I'm getting at here is that I can't use my wonderful garage door opener when the power is out, so I'm stuck pulling out a key. I'm horrible at using keys, absolutely horrible. Nine times out of ten, I don't even have my key with me, because I've either forgot the chain it's on, or I lost it. So, I'm stuck trying to find a key wherever my mother might have hidden one. Once I finally find the key, I fumble with the bags in my hand and can't put the key in the hole. I'm uncoordinated.

When I found this wonderful invention, I sat in amazement for a few seconds. No really, I did. This door lock creates a funnel for the key to go down. It allows you to simply guide the key to the lock, and making it much easier to open the door. Especially if you are me.

Needless to say, I will be buying a door lock like this whenever I have my own house. My dad might make fun of me, but at least I'll be able to get into my house without swearing and cussing.

Do you have problems opening doors or am I just alone here?

One Computer Addict Problem Solved

I don’t know how your laptop or computer looks, but if it’s anything like mine then these might come in handy. I use all my USB ports, all of them. I have the typical four on my laptop, but one is used for my iPod/phone. One is used for my fan that keeps my laptop cool, since it gets way too hot, and the other two are used for my flash drives that are always plugged in because they keep all my files and TV shows. Well, there are times when I need to plug in other electronics like my nook or my camera and I have no where to plug in the USB. This little invention will definitely solve that.

image

As you can see, these are USB connections that plug into one another. Not only are they in cute colors, but they are absolutely brilliant. They allow you to plug in anything you need to whenever you need to.

Would you use these? Do you need to use something like this, or do I just use too many electronics at the same time?

The Future is Now

I wish I could be telling you that I just bought my first flying car, and I’m about to take it out for a test run. Unfortunately, we aren't that advanced yet. But, until then, Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Co. Ltd has created a new transport system for crowded cities to make a morning commute a little less painful.

image

This is a Straddling Bus. It is almost like a subway but it’s above ground and it straddles the road. Passengers board on the upper level while cars drive under it. This bus was created for crowded cities in China where the streets are over crowded and building subways is time consuming and expensive. This bus will be powered by solar energy and electricity, which will make it a whole lot more green then buses used now. It will be able to carry 1200-1400 passengers at one time, and will cost only about 10% of what building a subway would cost.

Pretty cool, huh? Would you ride on this bus? Better yet, will we see them here soon?

Who doesn't have a cellphone?

It’s hard to imagine a time where we didn't have the choice of simply picking up the phone and calling our best friend, our mothers, or customer service when something goes wrong. This is especially true for those of us known as Generation X or Y. Even my mother, a baby boomer sometimes says, “What did we do before telephones were invented?” Let's face it, once upon a time people didn't have land lines, or cellphones, or smartphones. They simply wrote a letter, put a stamp on it, and sent it via the mail.

Telephones have drastically changed our day to day lives. They make our lives so much easier because we can call anyone we want, anytime, anywhere. Phones make it possible to call our friend to just talk about the weather, to contact a loved one visiting another country, to call in sick from work.

From where they started, telephones have definitely evolved and possibly even consumed our lives. Land lines have been updated and evolved into cellphones. Once cellphones looked like bricks and now they have been transformed into sleek touch phones that have so many gadgets and gizmos that people rarely even use their phones to call people.

Phones now contain apps, internet, email, cameras, facebook, twitter, tumblr, games, anything you can think of. Above all things, people now use their phones to text more than anything else. Be honest, haven’t you ever seen those teenagers walking through the store, face glued to their phone about to run into something? Heck, my own mother was texting at the dinner table last night even after yelling at my sister and me so many times. After all, why call people when you can just send a text?

SOPA and PIPA

I’m sure at some point today you might have seen SOPA or PIPA written somewhere. Or, perhaps you went on Google and noticed that the normal Google image was blacked out? Maybe you went to Wikipedia and everything went black? Or maybe you even just logged onto tumblr and a screen popped up about SOPA and PIPA and you clicked the x without even reading it?

Well, I’m asking you to stop scrolling and listen up. If you are on this site, then you need to educated yourself about SOPA and PIPA. These bills are trying to stop piracy, but on top of doing that, they are jeopardizing the internet as we know it.

Please. I beg of you. Read about these bills. Take action.

This is a good place to not only give you some idea of the bills, but also to direct you to other sources: The Rumpus

Floating planetarium in the tub

When you look up at the sky at night can you pick out the constellations? Do you imagine what worlds could be out there? Well, maybe that is just me, but I've always been fascinated with the stars, which is why I had to share this with you.

Sega Toys developed this dome pictured above. It’s a bath planetarium. I understand, there isn't much need star gazing while bathing, but you have to admit it’s pretty cool.

This planetarium floats on the surface of the water and projects the image with a bright light. It not only projects the night sky, but it also projects Rose Bath and Deep Ocean. If the dome is flipped over, it will project into the tub.

I don’t know about you, but if I had an indoor swimming pool, I would buy this and just float and look at the stars.

   What about you?

Not your typical mouse

It’s amazing how people adapt to life. I have a cousin who has lost both of his legs from diabetes, yet he can still walk thanks to prosthetic legs. That’s what we do as humans, adapt. We figure out a way to make our lives better and we do it.

This mouse, isn't your normal everyday mouse. It’s a mouse for your feet. This mouse was created by Liu Yi. It was created for people who have lost the use of their arms. Instead of using their hands, they can move the mouse with their foot and click with their toes.

  Pretty cool, huh?

Wake up with your mug

Good Morning Sleepyhead! Don’t you just hate it when it’s time to get up and start the day? Wouldn't you love to just say “Just five more minutes” all day long? Well, I've had those moments too. Usually, when I've only had two hours of sleep because I spent the whole night reading a book or writing a paper. I can’t make getting out of bed any easier (unless you want a run away alarm clock) but I can possibly make your morning cup of coffee or tea a little more enjoyable.

This coffee cup, designed by Damion O’Sullivan, makes a morning cup of coffee a little interesting. When the cup is cold, it stays black with a white sleeping face, but once you pour in hot coffee, the mug warms up and the face changes. The mug wakes up with you and changes to a white smiling face. I can’t assure you your mornings will be pleasurable, but at least you can watch as your mug change colors.

If you don’t like smiley faces, but like the idea of a heat changing cup then there is a cup for you too. Damian O’Sullivan also designed a hot and cold mug. This cup lets the drinker know if the liquid inside is hot or cold by changing color with the temperature.

Would a cup like this make your morning cup of coffee more enjoyable?

Clocky, Tocky, Wake Up

Here’s a good invention for deep sleepers, or for those of us that hit the snooze button a dozen times. This little alarm clock doesn’t just ring to wake you up. It runs away if you don’t get up. Nanda Home, a company that takes everyday objects and recreates them, created this alarm clock that they named Clocky.
Clocky

Clocky gives you one chance to hit snooze, but the next time the alarm clock goes off it rolls away. The alarm clock can withstand a 3 foot drop to the ground and will roll around on both carpeted and wooden floors until you get up and catch it.

Tocky
Perhaps wheels aren’t your style, or maybe you like to wake up to music? Well, there are always other options, such as Tocky. You can upload mp3s into this clock or even record messages with a small built-in microphone. Tocky will also roll away and make you catch him, ensuring that you are up and awake when you need to be.

So what do you think? Would you use an alarm clock like this?

Progress Happens Everyday.

Long before the invention of the wheel, man created gadgets and gizmos that made their life’s daily tasks a little easier, a little less time consuming, and sometimes a little more fun. Think about it. Where would we be today without wheels? There wouldn't be cars, bikes, motorcycles, trains, or airplanes. The world would be completely different. The invention of the telegraph made communication easier and quicker than sending letters in the mail. Soon the telegraph was replaced with phones, e-mail, texting and social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
Though the inventions created over the years have hugely shaped our lives for the better, or perhaps the worse, people are still inventing things. Just because our lives are phenomenally easier then our ancestors doesn’t mean that progress just stops; no, progress happens every day in the minds of people around the world who create new and exciting inventions.

Hi. Hello. Welcome.

Hello.
I'm Michelle. I'm new to this site. I'm actually a fan of tumblr usually, but I'm always up to trying new things. My main purpose for this blog is to share new, fun, and creative inventions that people have come up with. I also plan to comment on things that we have had around for years and have drastically changed our lives. Hopefully, I don't bore you, and if I do, let me know. Feel free to share any comments or suggestions
