Another reason to love Pitt

The University of Pittsburgh has developed a robotic hand that can be used by the paralyzed. A women who  was diagnosed with spinocerebellar degeneration, a condition where the connections between the brain and muscles deteriorate, in 1998 applied to be considered for a trail though Pitt/UPMC BCI research study. She was cleared for the trail and Pitt inserted electrodes in her brains surface. She can now move a robotic arm with her mind. How cool is that?
